The ACO Group is a world market leader in drainage technology. Climate change sets us a challenge to react effectively with innovative solutions to new environmental conditions. With its integrated approach, ACO stands for professional drainage, efficient cleaning, and the controlled discharge or reuse of water. Products include drainage channels and drains, oil and grease separators, backflow stop systems, pumps and pressure-water-tight cellar windows and light shafts.

Commercial & industrial roof drainage solutions
ACO Roof drainage

Flat roofs have numerous advantages; however, they must often master an enormous structural challenge. Safety, fire protection and thus the issue of roof drainage are the top priorities in design and construction.

ACO offers functional solutions, which are especially coordinated for use on flat roofs and ensure optimum removal of rainwater. Gravity drainage systems are suitable for smaller areas. On large roofs with 150 m² or larger, vacuum drainage systems are preferred. ACO offers products made of cast iron and stainless steel. We also have special solutions for green roofs, copings and for emergency drainage. ACO helps you to design the correct roof drainage and to perform the hydraulic calculations with its latest, standardised design software and its extensive practical knowledge.

Cast Iron

  • Consists of an iron-carbon alloy where the carbon is embedded in strips within the metallic base.
  • This so-called graphite mesh gives cast iron its exceptional resistance to corrosion and as a result, makes it ideally suited to use in wastewater technology.

Stainless Steel

  • Steel is resistant to water, steam and air humidity and is used for many different purposes.
  • Typical areas of application include roof drainage for large production buildings.

Gravity roof drainage

Flat roof gullies for gravity drainage are used for draining small flat roofs with a surface area of less than 150 m2 per gully. However, this kind of drainage can also be used for larger roofs. Whether the roof covering is a membrane, concrete or gravel, ACO Spin flat roof gullies can be flexibly adapted to suit different requirements. The individual components of the gullies such as gratings, top sections and gully bodies can be combined as needed using our building block system.

With the correct accessories, ACO Spin flat roof gullies can also be used to drain green roofs. With increasingly dense construction occurring in towns and cities, more and more ecological surfaces are being covered. With an intensive or extensive green flat roof it is a relatively simple matter to compensate for this.

Siphonic roof drainage

Traffic-free roof areas which are no larger than 150 m2, such as production buildings, hangars or sports stadiums, are suitable applications for siphonic drainage.
When the rainfall is heavy enough, the gullies create reduced pressure in the pipe system. This means that an increased level of drainage performance can be achieved compared to simple gravity drainage.

Siphonic drainage can be used on membrane, concrete and gravel roofs as well as on green roofs with extensive planting. When sizing and installing a siphonic system, there are a series of guidelines to be followed. That is why our own internal Application Technology department will be happy to carry out the calculations relating to the system for your project, including the isometric diagram of the pipe layout and creating a list of the materials required

ACO Pipe systems
for flat roof drainage

Wherever roofs are drained, pipe systems made of highly stable materials are used. They form the basis of reliable wastewater drainage. To satisfy increasing requirements, ACO offers a complete range of discharge pipes and fittings made of galvanised steel (ACO GM-X with and without insulation), cast iron (ACO SMX) and stainless steel (ACO Pipe).
